Lakeside

Located along the foothills of Cuyamaca Mountains, Lakeside has had a long reputation of being a “cowboy” town thanks to its rural location. With a population of just over 20,000, this unincorporated community was originally named after a small, natural lake located here. Today, there are four lakes and all offer something different: from jet skiing, fishing, boating, to camping and hiking. There are many reasons why homebuyers seek out Lakeside. In addition to the small town living experience where farms, ranches and dairies are scattered about, this is an ideal location for families. With rodeos, parks, hiking, rock climbing and equestrian trails, also here are a BMX track, sports fields and a very active and strong 4-H program as well as popular Teen Center. Served by two school districts, Grossmont Union High School District, and Lakeside Union School District, Lakeside has a successful Spanish and Mandarin language immersion program and El Capitan High School is recognized as having one of the only agriculture programs in the county. There are several local business in Lakeside, including a Walmart, and the Barona Resort and Casino, however several surrounding communities are just under ten minutes away. Downtown San Diego and popular beaches are less than a 30 minute drive.
